Series On Digital Rights and Internet Freedom – Topic 6: Surveillance and Privacy

The CIPIT and the GIF have developed exploratory material relevant to pertinent digital rights and internet freedom topics. The ‘Surveillance and Privacy’ topic examines the state of surveillance globally and its impact on individuals’ rights to privacy. It delves into the different forms of surveillance including
communications surveillance, government-led digital surveillance, Internet and social media surveillance and monitoring, biometric identification surveillance. It also explores pertinent privacy issues in the digital age, including data breaches privacy policies and consent, browser fingerprinting, and social engineering.
